It started with people who knew what the bottom looked like — and who knew that Jesus was already there waiting. What happened next is only explainable by God.
"Breaking Bonds didn't begin with a strategic plan. It began with a group of broken men who wanted to stay free — and a God who had far bigger plans than any of them could see."
In 2021, Breaking Bonds began as a simple weekly gathering. It wasn't a program. It wasn't a ministry with a logo or a board of directors. It was just men — graduates of faith-based treatment centers — sitting together, breaking bread, studying the Word, and fighting for each other's freedom.
That gathering changed lives. And it wasn't long before God made it clear that it needed to grow.
In 2021, Breaking Bonds opened in Jackson, MO — a completely free, long-term, Christ-centered rehabilitation home for men. No fees. No gimmicks. Just Jesus, brotherhood, and the relentless belief that no man is too far gone.
"And it shall come to pass in the day that the Lord shall give thee rest from the sorrow, from the fear, and from the bondage that you were made to serve."Isaiah 14:3 — The anchor verse of Breaking Bonds
Hundreds of men have experienced freedom through Breaking Bonds since those early days. Not because of a method or a model — but because of the redeeming power of Jesus Christ, working through people who were willing to say the words that have become the heartbeat of this ministry:
"Here I am, Lord. Send me." — Isaiah 6:8
The directors of Breaking Bonds Jackson aren't administrators. They are men and women who know what chains feel like — and who know the God who breaks them. Their authority here isn't a title. It's a testimony.
Ryan Boswell doesn't lead from a distance. He leads from experience — the kind forged in the hardest places a man can go. Ryan came out of addiction, and what Jesus did in his life is the same transformation he now dedicates every day to seeing happen in the men who walk through this door.
Ryan understands the weight these men carry because he carried it himself. He knows the shame, the doubt, the feeling that freedom is something other people get — not you. And he knows, firsthand, that it's a lie. He has given his life to making sure every man who enters Breaking Bonds is met with the same grace that was extended to him.
His leadership is direct, full of faith, and completely rooted in the belief that no man is beyond the reach of Jesus Christ.
Julie Boswell is a worshipper at heart — and that is not a small thing at Breaking Bonds. She leads the Breaking Bonds Worship Team and brings the presence of God into this house in a way that is deeply personal and entirely Holy Spirit-led. Her worship is not a program feature. It is a weapon.
Julie also came out of addiction, and her transformation is just as complete and just as real as Ryan's. Together, they are a living picture of what Breaking Bonds believes: that God restores families, rebuilds lives, and raises up the very people the world wrote off to be the ones who carry others to freedom.
She and Ryan have built a family across generations — and they pour that same family spirit into every man and every Tuesday night at Breaking Bonds.
Breaking Bonds is not a program you complete. It is a community you belong to — and a transformation that begins the moment you walk through the door.
Every man enters at no cost. No fees, no insurance requirements, no financial barriers. Jesus paid the price. We just hold the door open.
Seven to twelve months, 24 hours a day. Real transformation takes real time. We don't rush the process God is doing in a man's life.
Jesus Christ is the foundation, the method, and the finish line at Breaking Bonds.
Every on-site facilitator has been through the program and proven themselves. They don't theorize about recovery — they lived it.
Set in the countryside of Pocahontas, Missouri. Men cook together, eat together, live together. This is a home — and that changes everything.
What happens here week after week cannot be manufactured or replicated. The Holy Spirit is not a guest — He lives here.
Our mission is to deliver hope, healing, and restoration through faith in Jesus Christ to men battling addiction. We actively foster a strong community of support, reunite families, and empower each individual to break free from addictive behaviors and pursue a Christ-centered life.
Our vision is to expand Breaking Bonds into a sustainable, regionally recognized recovery ministry by growing our facilities, expanding our resources, strengthening families, and building partnerships — allowing us to increase capacity, serve more men, and create lasting restoration for individuals, families, and communities.
Jesus Christ is the foundation of all true healing and freedom. We walk alongside men through brotherhood, accountability, and authentic community. We value integrity, responsibility, servant leadership, and lifelong discipleship — believing every man deserves hope, every family restoration, and every life redemption.
"Here I am, Lord. Send me."Isaiah 6:8 — The heartbeat of Breaking Bonds
Whether you're a man who needs help, a family looking for hope, or someone who wants to be part of what God is doing here — there's a place for you at Breaking Bonds.
